PALM OIL : The Green Answer
Palm oil is the only product able to sustainably and efficiently meet a large portion of the world's increasing demand for oil crop-based consumer goods, foodstuffs and biofuel.
- Demand for oils and fats set to increase by 15.5% to 184.4 million metric tonnes by 2020.
- Only 20% of Malaysia's land area is used for agriculture, of which 75% is taken up by oil palms. Of the remaining land area, 20% is idle land or urban development, leaving forested area at close to 60% of the total.
- Oil palm gives the highest yield of oil compared to other oil crops.
- Oil Palm - 4.12 t/ha (Palm oil 3.68 t/ha + Palm kernel oil - 0.44 t/ha)

WHEEL LOADER OPERATION
Service required before starting every day ;
- Check any defects found by previous inspection.
- Remove dust, mud and oil from the loader.
- Check all of the parts for oil leak.
- Check hydraulic hoses and piping for damage.
- Check engine oil for level and contamination.
- Check fuel tank for level.
- Drain off water from water sedimenter.
- Check cooling water for level and radiator fin for contamination.
- Check air cleaner dust indicator.
- Check instruments, monitors (warning lamps), lights, horn and back-up buzzer for operation.
- Check brake oil supply tank for level.
- Check torque converter / transmission oil level.
- Check tires for pressure and damage and wheel bolts for looseness.
- Check brake pedal for operation, braking effect and play.
- Check accelerator pedal for operation and the color of exhaust and exhaust sound.
- Check parking brake for operation and braking effect.
- Check steering wheel for play and operation.
- Check sideview mirrors damage and mounting bolts for looseness.
- Check canopy, cab, seat belts for damage and mounting bolts for looseness.

TEST ON NEW GENERATOR SETS
1) Load Tests -
The engine shall be started cold and after the preliminary warm up period, the generator set tested continously, for 1 hour each at 50%, 75% and 100% full load, and followed by a 10% overload run for 1 hour duration.
2) Fuel Consumption Test -
During the above load test, the fuel consumption tests shall be performed continuously at 50%, 75%, 100% and 110% of the full load.
3) Transient Tests -
Transient tests from no load to 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of full load shall be carried out. This shall be followed by full load rejection tests.
The Contractor shall provide a high speed recorder for these tests. The transient voltage dip on load application, transient voltage overshoot on load rejection and the recovery times shall be recorded.
The amount of transient voltage dip on sudden full load application shall not exceed 15% while the amount of transient voltage overshoot on full load rejection shall not exceed 20%.The time for voltage recovery to within 3% of the original voltage level shall not exceed 0.25 seconds on load application and 0.5 second on load removal.
4) Safety Control Tests -
The engine safety control devices shall be tested to initiate the alarm and automatic shutdown of the engine under following tests :-
- Overspeed
- High temperature in cooling water
- Low lubrication oil pressure
The high cooling water temperature, low oil pressure and insulation tests shall be conducted in accordance with B.S. 4999 and B.S. 5000 or the relevant IEC Publication.
5) Insulation Tests -
- Insulation resistance of rotor, stator and exciter to earth.
- Insulation resistance between the stator windings.

PALM OIL HISTORY
Palm oil (from the African oil palm, Elaeis guineensis) is long recognized in West African countries, and is widely use as a cooking oil. European merchants trading with West Africa occasionally purchased palm oil for use in Europe, but as the oil was bulky and cheap, palm oil remained rare outside West Africa. In the Asante Confederacy, state-owned slaves built large plantations of oil palm trees, while in the neighbouring Kingdom of Dahomey, King Ghezo passed a law in 1856 forbidding his subjects from cutting down oil palms.
Palm oil became a highly sought-after commodity by British traders, for use as an industrial lubricant for the machines of Britain's Industrial Revolution[citation needed]. Palm oil formed the basis of soap products, such as Lever Brothers' (now Unilever) "Sunlight Soap", and the American Palmolive brand.[11] By c. 1870, palm oil constituted the primary export of some West African countries such as Ghana and Nigeria, although this was overtaken by cocoa in the 1880s.[citation needed]
Oil palms were introduced to Java by the Dutch in 1848[12] and Malaysia (then the British colony of Malaya) in 1910 by Scotsman William Sime and English banker Henry Darby. The first few plantations were established and operated by British plantation owners, such as Sime Darby and Boustead. The large plantation companies remained listed in London until the Malaysian government engineered the "Malaysianisation" policy throughout the 1960s and 1970s.[13]
In December 2006, the Malaysian government initiated merger of Sime Darby Berhad, Golden Hope Plantations Berhad and Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad to create the world’s largest listed oil palm plantation player.[14] In a landmark deal valued at RM31 billion, the merger involved the businesses of eight listed companies controlled by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF). A special purpose vehicle, Synergy Drive Sdn Bhd, offered to acquire all the businesses including assets and liabilities of the eight listed companies. With 543,000 hectares of plantation landbank, the merger resulted in the new oil palm plantation entity that could produce 2.5 million tonnes of palm oil or 5% of global production in 2006. A year later, the merger completed and the entity was renamed Sime Darby Berhad.[15]
Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) was formed on 1 July 1956 when the Land Development Act came into force with the main aim of eradicating poverty. Settlers were each allocated 10 acres of land (about 4 hectares) planted either with oil palm or rubber, and given 20 years to pay off the debt for the land.[16] After Malaysia achieve independence in 1957, the government focused on value adding of rubber planting, boosting exports, and alleviating poverty through land schemes. In the 1960s and 1970s, the government encouraged planting of other crops, to cushion the economy when world prices of tin and rubber plunged. Rubber estates gave way to oil palm plantations. In 1961, Felda's first oil palm settlement opened, measuring only 375 hectares of land. As of 2000, 685,520 hectares of the land under Felda's programmes were devoted to oil palms.[16] By 2008, Felda's resettlement broadened to 112,635 families and they work on 853,313 hectares of agriculture land throughout Malaysia. Oil palm planting took up 84% of Felda's plantation landbank.[17]

WHITHER CPO PRICES ?
- Will crude palm oil price reach RM2,625 a tonne in the first quarter of this year?
- An expert from LMC International believes that CPO futures can hit RM2,625 a tonne by April 2010 if CPO stocks remain tight and crude oil prices remain steady at around US$75 a barrel. However he expects the premium for CPO over crude oil prices to then return to a more 'normal' range of US$250 a tonne. However, should crude oil prices fall by US$10 a barrel, CPO futures may drop to RM2,350 a tonne within the next five months.

pertama kali menjejakkan kaki di palembang pada 07 Disember 2009. kenal palembang dah lama masa belajar sejarah masa sekolah rendah dulu. bandar besar, sibuk dan 'macet' (trafic jammed) sana-sini. tak sempat lagi ambil gambar tempat menarik di sini. gambar di hotel dan rumah makan ada la. kenal dulu dengan bapak-bapaknya !

selamat tinggal segamaha mill
nampaknya jodoh saya dengan segamaha mill tidak panjang - 6 bulan sahaja. mulai januari 2010 saya akan bertugas di palembang indonesia. saya mula bertugas di sabah pada bulan julai 2006 di kilang kelapa sawit rimba nilai sugut. berpindah ke segamaha mill lahad datu pada jun 2009. terima kasih kepada semua teman-teman yang banyak membantu. kerjasama dan keikhlasan anda tidak akan dapat saya lupakan. semoga kita dapat terus berkongsi maklumat dan pengalaman di posting akan datang.
